Antiseptic properties and the pleasant aroma of the oil are very beneficial for treating oily skin, acne and blemishes (blend the oil into a cream, a face cleanser or a toner – use 1 drop of the essential oil for a disposable 5 ml container filled with a cosmetic product). Bergamot essential oil increases skin sensitivity to sunrays (the skin is more sensitive to sunlight and gets tanned very quickly).
Its pleasant aroma makes the oil perfect for scenting a room, refreshing the air and repelling insects. Mix 200 grams of water with 20 drops of the essential oil. (The oil does not fully dissolve in water, but this amount is enough for refreshing the air. Use a simple spray bottle designed for spraying plants but make sure to store the mixture in different container after use if the spray bottle is made of plastic or metal, as plastic and metal react with essential oils and change their properties).
Bergamot oil is known to prevent some viruses from spreading, particularly the virus that causes cold sores, i.e. herpes. At the first signs of herpes, a mix of bergamot and eucalyptus essential oils, diluted with a small amount of alcohol, can be applied to the sore area. This essential oil mix can reduce the pain.
Important – Bergamot essential oil increases skin sensitivity to sunrays (the skin is more sensitive to sunlight and gets tanned very quickly). Never apply undiluted bergamot oil to skin areas exposed to the sun, as this may cause a severe sunburn.
